DEBUTING TV SHOWS
FALL DEBUT: Succession (Season 1)
Rumor has it this just might be HBO’s next cult favourite, a la Game of Thrones and Westworld. Hard-hitting, darkly humoristic and highly addictive - this new HBO dramedy follows a different kind of fight for the crown, Wall Street style. When their father is revealed ill, the Roy family heirs start scheming to take over his media empire, Waystar Royco, each with their own agenda. The fallen patriarch is portrayed by none other than award-nominee Brian Cox (X-Men 2, Deadwood), starring alongside an equally strong cast with Jeremy Strong (The Big Short), Kieran Culkin (Fargo), Alan Ruck (The Exorcist, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off), and Sarah Snook (Steve Jobs, Winchester).
FALL DEBUT: New Amsterdam (Season 1)
Think
Grey’s Anatomy meets
Scrubs meets
the veteran medical TV series to have launched all medical series,
ER.
New Amsterdam draws inspiration from the real-life oldest public hospital in America, Bellevue, so prep your tissue boxes for some genuinely emotional plot lines. Eye candy Ryan Eggold, graduate of
The Blacklist, plays the hospital’s newest director Dr. Max Goodwin who is set on making a difference - bureaucracy be damned.
If you can get passed Dr. Goodwin’s on-the-nose name (Good-Win, really?), this autumn super season will have you at 'Hello'. Or, in this case, 'Clear' - hospital jokes for the win.
FALL DEBUT: The Cool Kids (Season 1)
From the creative and hilarious mind of Charlie Day (
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia), we anticipate an upcoming hit with this hot new super season. We follow three friends at a retirement home who see their peaceful day-to-day completely overthrown by a rebellious newcomer. A deceptively simple premise, the series is full of golden moments and pulls in grade-A comedic talents David Alan Grier (
The Carmichael Show), Leslie Jordan (
Will & Grace), Martin Mull (
Life in Pieces) and Vicki Lawrence (
Great News).
Watch it on Tuesdays at 20:00 KSA on OSN Series Comedy HD, starting October 2
RETURNING TV SERIES
Spoilers may follow – you have been warned.
Grey’s Anatomy, SEASON 15
Prep your snacks - Season 15 of Grey’s Anatomy returns with a full 2 hour premiere. That’s right, 2 hours of Grey Memorial Sloan in the poetically titled debut ‘With a Wonder and a Wild Desire’.
Season 14 finale left on a relatively high note, compared to previous why-Shonda-WHY, tear-jerking finales. Major characters April Kepner (Sarah Drew) and Arizona Robbins (Jessica Capshaw) are allowed a non-fatal exit while the Karev-Wilson nupitals are peppered with sweet moments AND – drum roll – we find out Teddy is pregnant. With so much hanging in the wind, we’re hoping Queen Shonda Rhymes answers at least some of our questions in the two hour premiere - starting with who is Teddy's baby daddy?
Watch it on Sundays at 20:00 KSA on Star World HD, starting September 30
How To Get Away With Murder, SEASON 5
We almost, almost had closure in the Season 4 finale when Jorge Castillo (Esai Morales) was finally put behind bars, only for the Pandora box to open once more. Who is Gabriel Maddox (Rome Flynn) and does he mark the return of a long lost son? While the future of Asher & Michaela hangs in limbo, what is Nate’s plan with all the evidence he found on the Keating 5, and are those hints of a Coliver wedding in the trailer? So many question, Shonda. So. Many. Questions.
Station 19, SEASON 2
Station 19 left pretty much all of its characters in danger – and its sophomore season promises more twists and turns. For starters, we heard through the grapevine that viewers can expect even more
Grey’s Anatomy crossovers - not surprising when the show itself unofficially debuted within the Grey Memorial Sloan universe. While we can’t say for sure if any character will be killed off, we do know of 2 confirmed new joiners: heartthrobs Dermot Mulroney and Boris Kodjoe. Could the cast be expanding, or will they be replacing two fallen firefighters?
Watch it on Sundays at 19:00 KSA on OSN Series First HD, starting October 7
